Hamburg, Oct 15, (dpa/GNA) – A 21-year-old German man dubbed the “White Tiger” online, has been charged with murder over the suicide of a 13-year-old US child.
The Hamburg public prosecutor’s office on Wednesday, announced that the man has been accused of 204 offences, including five cases of attempted murder.
The “White Tiger” is said to have headed a group of cybercriminals, who encouraged children aged between 11 and 15 years old to commit self-harm online for sexual purposes.
The children came from Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.
A 13-year-old US boy was driven to suicide, while a 14-year-old Canadian girl tried to kill herself as a result of the man’s actions.
The German-Iranian dual national was detained in his parents’ flat in the northern city of Hamburg, on suspicion of murder.
He is in custody in a youth detention centre on an island on the Elbe River, just outside Hamburg.
The suspected sex offender had previously studied medicine at a private university. He faced investigations in 2021 on suspicion of possessing pornographic images of minors, but they were dropped after the suspect was questioned.
