Dormaa-Ahenkro (Bono), Oct.11, GNA-The Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region has presented relief items valued at GHC232,537 to some People with Disabilities (PwDs) in the Municipality.
The 75 beneficiaries comprise 34 males and 37 females and they received fufu pounding machines, hand/foot/ sewing and knitting machines and spraying machines.
Others also received special wheelchairs, fertilisers, hairdryers, washing bowls, mirrors, pepper grinding machines, and chest freezers.
Mr Dominic Adomah Ameyaw, the Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive, advised them to be confident and use their machines well to improve their socio-economic livelihoods.
Mr Adama Yeboah, the Presiding Member of the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly, urged the PwDs in the area to register with the assembly to benefit from some government socio-economic interventions programmes tailored to their individual needs.
Mr John Kwame Adu Jack, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa Central, said the government was aware of the weaknesses of the PwDs and other vulnerable and minority groups.
He cautioned them against selling the items, however, utilized them for income generating activities to sustain and enhance their socio-economic livelihoods.
Mr Peter Kwame Amoako, The Chairman of Ghana Federation of the Disability (GFD) thanked the assembly for the support and pledged the federation’s readiness to monitor the use of the machines to benefit the PwDs.
