COBAANA congratulates Oseadeeyo Badu II, fellow Justices of the Court of Appeal

Sunyani, (Bono), Oct. 4, GNA – The Council of Bono and Ahafo Associations of North America (COBAANA), has congratulated Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II, Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area in the Bono Region on his appointment as a Justice of the Court of Appeal. 

COBAANA is the umbrella organization of diaspora Ghanaians from the former Brong-Ahafo region residing in North America and spearheading the holistic development of the Bono and Bono East regions. 

“Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II’s elevation to this esteemed position is not only a personal achievement, but also a proud moment for the entire Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo communities,” the council said in a statement issued. 

Oseadeeyo Badu II, also the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs was among the 21 High Court Judges that President John Dramani Mahama swore as Justices of the Court of Appeal on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the Jubilee House. 

The statement signed by Dr Degraft Kwafo, the Chairman of COBAANA, and made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, said Oseadeeyo Badu II’s dedication to the rule of law, coupled with his wise leadership as a traditional ruler, continued to serve as a powerful example of how cultural heritage and modern governance could coexist and thrive. 

It also congratulated all the other newly appointed Justices “who have answered the call to serve as justices at the appellate level. Your integrity, experience, and service are critical to upholding Ghana’s legal system.” 

The statement extended its profound appreciation to President Mahama for his visionary leadership and commitment to strengthening the nation’s judiciary through the appointment of “Osagyefo Dr Badu II, as a Justice of the Court of Appeal.” 

“This historic appointment is a testament to the exceptional wisdom, and dedication of Nana to national service. It also stands as a moment of great pride not only for the people of Dormaa, but for the entire Bono region and Ghana at large,” it added. 

The statement commended President Mahama for the confidence reposed in “Oseadeeyo Dr Badu II and the other justices, a recognition that underscored the value of traditional leadership, experience, and fairness in the dispensation of justice. 

“We share in the admonition of the President of the Republic to the newly elevated Justices in charging them to strive to leave a lasting legacy when he said “if you do this, long after you have left the Bench, your names will not be nearly recorded in law reports; they will be remembered in the hearts of Ghanaians as justices who renewed our faith in our Republic.” 

It said COBAANA is truly convinced that Oseadeeyo Badu II’s name would be written in gold in the hearts and minds of posterity when the country talks about Justices who renewed peoples faith in the Republic. 

It stressed that COBAANA remained committed to celebrating and supporting the achievements of distinguished citizens of the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions, both at home and abroad. 

“Once again, congratulations to Oseadeeyo Dr Badu II and all the newly appointed Justices. We pray for wisdom, strength, and success in your new roles,” the statement said.
