Accra, Oct. 17, GNA – The Centre for Financial Literacy Education Africa (CFLE Africa) has held the third edition of the National Estate and Gift Planning Awareness Conference in Accra.

Themed “Building Wealth, Changing Lives: Strengthening Communities Through Personal and Business Financial Education,” the event which aimed at deepening public understanding of estate planning and long-term financial preparedness, also sought to promote responsible money management and expanding financial inclusion.

In his address, Mr Peter Asare Nyarko, the Executive Director of CFLE Africa, said proactive estate and gift planning remained an essential component of personal financial management.

He said it helps individuals to protect their assets, secure their families and build intergenerational wealth.

Touching on the theme, Mr. Asare Nyarko said financial literacy should be recognised as a key driver of national development rather than being viewed narrowly as budgeting and saving.

He noted that inadequate financial knowledge often contributed to the rise in social vices.

He said people often resorted to crime not out of greed, but from lack of financial understanding.

“If we are all financially literate, social ills will decline,” he said.

It is not just about having money. it is about managing what you have and living within your means,” he added.

The event which focused on strengthening CFLE Africa’s national campaign on financial education.

Mr. Asare Nyarko who called for increased financial literacy, reiterated the Centre’s commitment to broadening financial education programmes to reach all demographic groups, noting that improved financial knowledge was vital for building resilient communities and strengthening Ghana’s economy.

The event which was organised in partnership with GAB, KPMG, and GhanaThink, brought together students, financial professionals, civil society organisations, regulators and academia.
