Accra, Oct. 31, GNA – Accra Technical University (ATU) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the Hotel Catering and Tourism Training Institute (HOTCATT) to boost Ghana’s tourism.

The MoU aims to foster collaboration in practical training, research, and programme development for the tourism, hospitality, and culinary sectors.

If signed, the agreement would introduce short-term practical programmes to enhance skills development and bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Speaking at a facilitation meeting in Accra on Thursday, Professor Amevi Acakpovi, Vice-Chancellor of ATU, said the MoU would promote cooperation in admissions, facilities development, research, and institutional visibility.

He said that the partnership would strengthen hands-on learning and innovation for trainees and industry professionals.

Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, commended the initiative, noting the need for more practical training in the hospitality and tourism sectors.

She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting collaborations that improve service delivery and professionalism.

“There is no place I visit without calling for investors to support the training needs of the sector.

“The attitude of some service providers, who behave as though they are doing customers a favour, must change. Service delivery should be professional, and staff should be easily identifiable, even in restaurants,” she said.
