Akatsi (VR), Oct. 06, GNA- Mr Benard Ahiafor, Member of Parliament of Akatsi South, who is also the First Deputy Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament has urged his constituents to rally behind him as he worked tirelessly to lobby for the needed developmental projects in the area.
He said several school infrastructure projects would commence in the entire Akatsi South Constituency this year.
The projects would include the construction of school buildings with modern toilet facilities, training centers, renovation works, and staff bungalows worth over Ghc 50.000.000.00 with funding from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GetFund).
Mr Ahiafor disclosed this in an exclusive interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after commissioning a kindergarten school block for the Akatsi No 1 Basic School, where he also participated in this year’s ‘Kiddifest’ event’s climax, held at the Akatsi RC park.
“This year, the following projects will kick start in my beloved Akatsi South Constituency. On my own behalf and on behalf of the good people of Akatsi South; I am grateful to Getfund for the honour it has bestowed on us.”
The projects, according to him, include a two-storey 12-unit classroom block and six-units technical workshop at Avenorpeme Technical Institute, a two-storey girl’s dormitory, three- three-storey semi-detached staff bungalows, two No. 12 units toilet facilities for Akatsi Senior High Technical School.
Others are a six-unit classroom block and 12-seater toilet facilities at Dzogadze Basic school, a 6-unit classroom block with 12-seater toilet facility at Akeve-Gui Basic school, a 6-unit classroom block for Duawodome Basic school, and a six-units classroom block for Anyiheme E.P. Basic School.
“This is just for education. The beginning of many to come in education, youth employment, health and sanitation, agriculture, and many more,” he added.
Mr Ahiafor also assured all residents within Akatsi South that the President’s ‘Resetting Ghana Agenda’ was in full force and that all must rally behind the ruling government for better opportunities in the coming days.
On his quest to boost quality education delivery in the area, Mr Ahiafor has reiterated his commitment to continue sponsoring the annual ‘Kiddiefest’ and another activity known as ‘reading festival’ at the basic levels as well as key educational activities in the area.
The second Edition of KidiFest, a fun-filled three-day celebration specially designed for KG and Lower Primary learners to learn, create, and shine, was held under the leadership of the Akatsi South Municipal Education Directorate led by Mr Karim Ayaana Umar, the Akatsi South GES Director.
Activities such as a float, exciting school-based activities, cooking competition, drama, and others characterised the celebration that was under the theme “Nurturing Young Minds, Igniting Potentials through Education.”
Dignitaries such as Mr Daniel Dagba, the Akatsi South Municipal Chief Executive, Heads of Department, educational actors, and others witnessed the event.
