Dzodze (V/R), Sept. 29, GNA â The Ketu North Municipal Assembly (KNMA), acting on a formal request by Mr. Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North, has procured and begun distributing 5,000-litre capacity polytanks to 14 communities to help address water scarcity.
The beneficiary communities include Torvie, Sovie-Sakokorpe, Ehi-Biasenh, Avalavi-Gagodope, Atiteti-Adevukorpe, Agordeke-Agbematorkorpe, Gbegbekorpe, Afornyaga-Adevukorpe, Ehi-Ahufeto, Wuti, Kasu (Keme Korpe), Tadzi-Ahiagbakorpe, Adrume Township, and Agbevekope.
Distribution commenced on September 7, following the successful procurement of the tanks. The intervention was fully funded by the Assembly.
Mr. Agbana, who facilitated the request, said the initiative formed part of efforts to ensure no community in Ketu North was left behind in accessing potable water.
âWater is life, and as leaders, it is our duty to find practical solutions to the daily challenges of our people. These polytanks will provide relief for communities that have struggled with storage and accessibility for years,â he stated.
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Martin Amenakpor, reaffirmed governmentâs commitment to such interventions.
âThis is a crucial step in safeguarding public health and improving the well-being of our residents. The Assembly will continue to collaborate with the MP and stakeholders to bring lasting solutions to water challenges,â he said.
At Agbevekope, one of the first communities to benefit, residents expressed joy and gratitude.
âFor many years, water has been our biggest headache, but today we feel hopeful that things are changing,â a resident told the GNA.
Officials added that the polytanks are being managed directly by KNMA to ensure transparency, equitable distribution, and sustainability.
The provision of these storage facilities is seen as a significant step towards addressing perennial water shortages in the municipality and improving the quality of life for residents.
