Israeli occupation kills 279 Palestinian journalists, a plot to conceal atrocities – Palestinian Ambassador

By Patrick Ofoe Nudzi, GNA

Accra, Sept. 16, GNA – Mr Abdalfatah Ahmed Khalil Alsattari, Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, says the Israeli occupation in Gaza and the West Bank has killed 279 Palestinian journalists since Israel’s assault on Gaza began on October 7, 2023.

He said the Israeli genocide is not only aimed at annihilating Palestinians but seeking to ‘kill’ and conceal the truth of happenings in Gaza, thereby killing the journalists who report the atrocities.

“Israel’s occupation and actions seek to kill the truth, continue the apartheid, perpetuate the genocide and holocaust against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank,” the Ambassador said.

He said this at the Candle Light Vigil for murdered journalists in Gaza, an event that was organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the Socialist Movement of Ghana.

Mr Alsattari said: “Palestinians will not leave their land and the truth shall not be covered. Israel kills the journalists because she wants to kill the truth. If Israel thinks my people will leave Gaza under bombs, they don’t know my people or our history.”

The Vigil was attended by pro-Palestine campaigners, journalists, freedom fighters and other like-minded Ghanaians.

Mr Kwesi Pratt Jr., Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper and member of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, said: “We, the journalists in Ghana, the people of Ghana, stand solidly with Palestine.”

Lyla Adwan-Kamara, a member, Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement in Ghana, said the killings of the journalists were to prevent documentation of the genocide.

She lamented the inactions of the international community and the Western governments.
