Aboadze (W/R), Sept. 1, GNA – The Sekondi District of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Peniel Congregation at Aboadze-Abuesi in the Shama district, has held a Thanksgiving and Send-Off Service for Reverend Stephen Martinson, the outgoing District Minister.
Rev Martinson, who has been transferred to the Tarkwa-Abosso district of the PCG, was honoured for his three-year outstanding and dedicated service to the congregation.
In his last sermon on the theme: “Humility Brings Exaltation”, he said the key to success was humility, and asked the members to be humble in their service to God and mankind.
He said: “As children of God, we must align ourselves with Him in humility to receive His blessings. This is the only way we can see progress in our lives.”
Rev Martinson thanked the District Session Council, Local Session, and the membership of the Peniel Congregation for the support given him and his family throughout the three-year service to the church.
Mr Frank Gyarteng, Catechist for Peniel Congregation, expressed gratitude to Rev Martinson for his three-year dedicated and impactful service to the congregation.
“We will miss him for his zeal and enthusiasm with which he led this congregation, but we pray for the Almighty God to grant him the strength to continue impacting lives in the next chapter of his ministry,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by some heads of sister congregations in the Sekondi District, members, traditional authorities, family and friends of Rev Martinson, and other well-wishers.
As part of the event, citations and gifts from various groups were presented to the outgoing District Minister.
