Nsoatre, (Bono), Sept. 27, GNA – Nana Obeng Effah Kokodrufuor II, the Krontrihene (sub-chief) of the Nsoatre Traditional Area in the Bono Region has advised young girls to desist from pre-marital sexual practices and concentrate building their future.
“Don’t allow men to have sex and with you just because of only GHC20”, he stated, urging them not to also allow their present ‘good looks and body makeups’ to deceive them.
Nana Kokodrufuor reminded girls that their beauty would gradually fade away, saying “what will be left for you at that time will only be what you used your bodies and life for”.
He urged the girls to be rather sensitive and avoid unhealthy sexual behaviours that could ruin their future.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Nana Kokodrufuor admitted that though many young girls had a myriad of challenges, that was not a yardstick for them to engage in acts of immorality.
Instead, he advised them to be interested, engaged in employable skills training that would provide job opportunities for them to find something worth doing and to enhance their socio-economic livelihoods.
“Some of us are even ready to support and procure apprentices and working tools, however, it’s unfortunate that many of the girls are unwilling to learn skills”, the chief stated.
Nana Kokodrufuor reminded girls getting pregnant in their early stages of life had a devastating impact on their personal lives, families and the entire society.
He also condemned the growing trend of substance abuse among the youth of today, and called for concerted and decisive efforts to bring the situation under control.
