Berekum, (Bono), Aug. 14, GNA – Mr Osam Pinanko, the Chairman of the Berekum Youth for Accountability, a youth group spearheading the development of the Berekum Municipality of the Bono Region, has appealed for public support towards the completion of the Berekum library project.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Berekum, Mr Pinanko said the community started the construction of the library about five years ago, however the work had been abandoned due to lack of funds.

He said the project was about 70 per cent complete and appealed to Non-governmental and philanthropic organisations, as well as wealthy individuals to come to their aid, saying already the Berekum residents in the diaspora had donated some books to furnish the facility.

Mr Pinanko said the project was left with minor works, including painting, fixing of louvers and lighting, saying any support in cash or in kind was needed, and that on completion the facility would help promote the growth of education in the area.

He said it was the vision of the group to rehabilitate the non-functional public toilet at the Berekum main lorry station too and appealed for public assistance.
