Adidome (VR), Aug. 14, GNA – Mr Alexander Roosevelt Hotordze, the Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, and Mr Dodzi Addison Mornyuie, the District Chief Executive (DCE), have taken delivery of 1,200 bags of NPK fertilisers under the government’s Feed Ghana programme to support farmers in the district.

The consignment, which forms part of interventions to boost food production and improve livelihoods, will be distributed to farmers across the area in the coming days.

Mr Hottordze commended President John Dramani Mahama for what he described as “another step toward enhancing productivity and ensuring food security” in Central Tongu.

Mr Mornyuie noted that agriculture remained the backbone of the local economy, stressing that the fertiliser supply would “go a long way to support the hardworking men and women who feed the district and beyond.”

Some farmers expressed optimism that the intervention would bolster their activities, increase yields, and contribute to economic growth.

Mr Kofi Agbemava, a maize farmer from Adidome, appealed to the authorities to ensure that the distribution process was transparent and fair so that “every deserving farmer benefits, regardless of their political affiliation.”

The Feed Ghana programme, a flagship government initiative, seeks to promote sustainable agriculture, improve farmers’ access to inputs, and strengthen the nation’s food security.
