Adaklu Waya (V/R), Aug. 9, GNA – Mr. Jerry Yao Ameko, Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE) Friday assured the people in the district that his administration would foster transparency, accountability, inclusiveness, and innovation in service delivery.
He therefore urged them to work together across political lines and traditional jurisdictions to help build a peaceful, prosperous, and resilient district.
Mr. Ameko gave the assurance in his sessional address at the second session of the Fourth Adaklu District Assembly at Adaklu Waya.
He stated that he would work together with all diligence to propel the development of the district to a higher pedestal.
The DCE disclosed that when the Assembly availed itself to a rigorous assessment by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council for the fourth quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025 it passed the assessment.
On education, he stated that the level of education in the district continued to face challenges including inadequate infrastructure, teacher deficits in the rural communities and high school dropouts but said several interventions were underway.
Mr. Ameko, who is also the Dean of Volta MDCEs said to help improve the learning environment a three-unit classroom blocks with auxiliary facilities were commissioned for Adaklu Seva and Adaklu Sofa whilst in partnership one Dr. Gbedemah a modern library facility was being built for Adaklu Kodzobi Basic school.
He continued that also to help boost healthcare delivery in the district a three-unit nurse’s quarters was completed and handed over to the Adaklu Wumenu Health Centre through the support of Mr. Agbodza, the Minister of Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament of the area.
The Dean intimated that the Assembly remained committed to strengthening child protection systems in the district and would work towards providing the necessary support to ensure that all children grew up in a safe and nurturing environment.
He disclosed that several communities lacked proper sanitation facilities resulting in open defecation exposing residents of such communities to several diseases.
Mr. Ameko therefore called on Assembly members and traditional authorities and all stakeholders to work together to improve the situation.
Touching on the road network in the district, he said emergency road spot improvements have been undertaken on the Torda to Keyime and Kpatove to Mafi Kumasi roads.
He stated that processes were underway to ensure the rehabilitation of the old Assembly office structure to bring to the district the National Service Scheme, the National Signals Bureau, and Business Advocacy Centre.
The Dean continued that efforts were also been put in place to ensure the completion of the official bungalow for the DCE and staff of the Assembly.
“Frantic efforts have also been made by the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund for the construction of a four 10-unit bungalow for workers in the district,” he assured.
Mr. Ameko disclosed that to help implement government’s flagship 24-hour economy, a 1,500 acres land had been donated to the Assembly by the Hinitutu clan at Adaklu Abuadi on which several businesses would set up to create jobs.
He noted that businesses expected to be established on that land would open the district to investment, enhance export potential under regional trade agreements, and most importantly create sustainable jobs for the youth.
“This initiative is aimed at driving productivity through a three-shift work system, supported by incentives such as reduced power tariffs during off-peak hours and policy frameworks that would promote continuous business operations,” he assured.
He noted with concern the rise in the reported cases of stealing causing harm and threat of harm in the district and called for strengthened collaboration between community members, the Assembly and Security Services to help minimize the situation.
He disclosed that with the intervention of Togbe Gbogbi Atsa V, Fiaga and President of the Adaklu Traditional Council and Management of the Assembly the incident that happened at the Adaklu Waya Animal market has been resolved and market was now functioning.
