Human Resource Practitioners Mourn Victims of Helicopter Crash

Koforidua, Aug 14, GNA – Human Resource Practitioners of the Local Government Service – Ghana (HRPLGS-G) have extended condolences to President John Dramani Mahama and bereaved families following the fatal helicopter crash that claimed eight lives on August 6.

The Human Resource Practitioners body expressed profound condolences to President Mahama, the bereaved families, and the nation over the tragic loss of the eight public servants.

The incident occurred at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region. There were five government officials and three Ghana Air Force crew members en route to Obuasi to launch the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP).

In a press release signed by Mrs. Vivien Akumia, Director of Human Resource and National President of HRPLGS-G, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Koforidua, the group described the deceased as distinguished professionals who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

“Their passing is not only a loss to their families but to every community and citizen whose lives they touched,” it said. “In solidarity with the nation, HRPLGS-G joins in mourning, honouring their memory and upholding their legacy of selfless service to Ghana.”

The deceased included: Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defense; Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; Dr. Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman and Mr. Samuel Aboagye, National Disaster Management Oorganisation Deputy Director-General.

The crew were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampedu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah

Mrs. Akumia offered a solemn prayer to the eight departed souls saying: “May their souls rest in peace in the bosom of the Lord.”

The Adansi Akrofuom helicopter crash is one of Ghana’s most devastating aviation tragedies in recent memory that has claimed the lives of five senior government officials and three Ghana Air Force personnel.

The delegation was going to Obuasi to launch the COMSDEP that aimed at promoting sustainable mining and youth empowerment.

In recognition of their service and sacrifice, the government has announced a state burial for the victims on August 15.

The incident has triggered nationwide mourning, with tributes pouring in from political leaders, civil society, and professional bodies.
