Takoradi Central Church of Christ donates over one million worth of items to Sekondi female Prisons

Sekondi, July 26, GNA- Brother Writena Amponsah, Preacher of the Takoradi Central Church of Christ, has encouraged society to bring freed prisoners closer and influence them positively.

That, he explained, would help them to fully integrate, kill loneliness and erode stigma so that they would not go back to acts and actions that got them incarcerated.

Brother Amponsah reminded society of this critical role when the Takoradi Central Church of Christ on behalf of the Churches of Christ, donated home made items and foodstuffs worth over One million Cedis to support the upkeep of female prisoners in particular, and other surrounding prison yards.

The Church donated bags of rice, gallons of oils, bags of beans, garlic and maize, bags of water, medics, bundles of toilet rolls, slippers and other critical supplies to make their lives worthwhile and feel loved despite their present circumstances.

Brother Amponsah said the Churches of Christ did not only minister to the spiritual needs of society but also the physical to lessen societal and individual burden, adding, “Matthew 25:38 enjoined us to help the weak, feed the hungry and cloth the naked as Christians and that’s exactly what we have come to demonstrate as Churches of Christ.”

Chief Superintendent of Prisons Judith Abbiw, who received the items for the Command said, “we are overwhelmed by this generosity.”

“Sometimes, the items to fix a special meal for these inmates on holidays and special occasions become a headache for us and this huge donation from the Takoradi Central Church of Christ has brought hope to not just the inmates but the Command,” she added.

CSP Abbiw appealed to other benevolent institutions and individuals to help the facility with tools to train the inmates in life skills.
