Nkwanta (O/R), July 8, GNA- Mr. Joseph Kwame Antwi Awal, the Nkwanta South Municipal Chief Executive, has urged all factions involved in the conflict within the enclave to choose the peace path through dialogue and not guns.
The Municipality is at a critical point, where peace is essential for development, he said.
To address the ongoing conflict, a high-level military delegation from the Southern Command, led by Brigadier General Isaac Nicholas Paintsil, met with leaders of various factions.
The military delegation emphasised its neutrality, focusing on promoting peace and stability.
They urged all parties to embrace dialogue to resolve differences, warning that violence would exacerbate the situation and hinder progress.
Mr. John Kwadwo Gyeong, the Oti Regional Minister, reiterated the ban on festivals within Nkwanta, prioritising safety and security.
However, he encouraged communities to organise events outside the township, highlighting the importance of cultural expression while maintaining order.
The Minister emphasized that true development in an area could only be achieved through collective efforts aimed at restoring peace.
He called upon traditional leaders to take proactive roles in mediating between conflicting parties and fostering understanding among their people.
The Minister said that through a concerted commitment to peaceful coexistence, Nkwanta can unlock its full potential and pave the way for sustainable development and prosperity for all its residents.
