Keta (VR), July 29, GNA – Mr. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpe, the Member of Parliament of Keta Constituency, in the Volta Region, has made a significant donation to the Keta Fire Service in the Municipality to help improve their activities.
The donations, worth hundreds of Ghana cedis were handed over to the fire service by the Keta Municipal office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), which comprised mattresses, mosquito nets, bedsheets among others.
Mr. Wonder Setsoafia Deynu, the NADMO Director at Keta, who presented the items on behalf of the MP, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that the generous act was to help equip the fire service and prepare them for any task ahead.
“The donation was in response to a request for support from the Keta Fire Service and the timely assistance provided Mr. Gakpey will undoubtedly enhance the working conditions and overall well-being of the fire service personnel,” he said.
He explained that the organisation has acknowledged the contributions of the MP which would go a long way in supporting the fire service in their operations and ultimately benefiting the community in various ways.
He said the donation has demonstrated a strong bond between the community and its leadership and support from Mr. Gakpe has indicated the commitment to the welfare of the people in the constituency and his willingness to support would promote and improve the communities.
“We are extending invitation to corporate organisations, individuals, and benevolent groups to support the ongoing efforts by donating relief items, and l believe that together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.”
Mr. Deynu said that the donation to the Keta Fire Service was part of NADMO’s broader efforts to enhance disaster response and management in the area to ensure that many communities are equipped to respond to emergencies.
Mr. Lawrence Woedi, the Keta Municipal Fire Service Commander, who received the donations on behalf of the Service, said that the donation was expected to have a positive impact on their work and the communities.
He expressed excitement over the donation and thanked Keta MP, Mr. Dzudzorli Gakpe and the NADMO for the support which would enable the Keta Fire Service to operate more effectively to contribute to a safer and more secure environment for residents.
He said the donation highlighted the importance of collaboration and partnership between government agencies, community leaders, and other stakeholders which could help the service to achieve greater impact and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those they serve.
He appealed to other philanthropists, groups of entities, individuals among others to help other institutions to improve their activities for the benefit of the communities.
Mr. Woedi warned the public to handle fire well to avoid any unforeseen fire outbreak.
