Accra, July 16, GNA – The All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) has appointed Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko (Rtd), Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, as an Executive Member of its Eminent Persons of the Ecumenical Programme for Peace in Africa (EPEPPA).

The appointment, announced by Rev. Dr. Fidon Mwombeki, AACC’s General Secretary, recognises Dr. Agbeko’s commitment to peacebuilding, justice, and democratic governance on the continent.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said, the appointment comes just weeks after his election as Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana.

It said as a member of EPEPPA, Dr. Agbeko is expected to play a leading role in AACC’s continental peace initiatives, which include conflict mediation, solidarity visits to crisis-affected countries, and election observation missions.

The programme is part of AACC’s collaboration with the African Union and regional blocs to promote peace, justice, and human rights across Africa.

The statement said, the appointment letter emphasised Dr. Agbeko’s role in strengthening early warning response mechanisms and deepening the culture of peace in politically unstable regions.

“EPEPPA members are tasked with supporting countries threatened by conflict, poor governance, or democratic breakdowns”, it added.

“The work ahead is not just about conflict resolution, but building the foundations for lasting peace, justice, equality, and dignity,” the statement said.

It added that, Dr. Agbeko’s elevation to this high-level continental body is seen as a major boost to Ghana’s contribution to pan-African peacebuilding.
