Takoradi, June 24, GNA – Staff of the Western Regional Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) have appealed for major rehabilitation works on their office building to guarantee safety and enhance operational efficiency.
They said the edifice’s current structural defects posed a threat to their safety and hinder effective operations.
The building housing the Directorate is riddled with deep cracks, a collapsing ceiling, and offices that get flooded during downpours.
According to the staff, the unsafe working environment sometimes disrupted work, and endangered their lives.
Mr Daniel Darlington Atitso, the newly appointed Western Regional NADMO Director, bemoaned the wanton disregard for proper maintenance of state properties.
“This is not just a maintenance issue, it is a failure to protect the very institution meant to protect others and we must fix this urgently.
“My priority is to secure resources and restore this office to a level that meets the demands of disaster management in this region,” he said.
Mr Atitso pledged to work closely with the national headquarters and relevant stakeholders to push for immediate rehabilitation works and retooling of the office for enhance performance.
