Kadjebi (O/R), June 02, GNA-Mr. Emmanuel Korbla Agbaxode, the Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Chapter of the Volta/Oti Regions, is seeking re-election in the upcoming elections.
He disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after filing his nomination forms on Thursday, May 29.
He told GNA that his desire to continue offering accountable, servant-leadership characterised by transparency and unity prompted him to seek re-election.
“I promise to leverage the valuable experience gained from my first term to make our Association even more vibrant,” he stated.
“Yes, the last three years were tough. It was a lonely journey, with some compatriots abandoning us (the Association), but great lessons have been learnt, and the groundwork has been prepared for greater heights,” he said.
“We have focused on capacity building in the past years, with various workshops and training sessions,” he continued.
Mr. Agbaxode stated that the Chapter’s priority now is the completion of works on the Press Centre and the housing projects for members.
He pledged to work tirelessly with major stakeholders including the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, who was his 2017 graduation mate from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) 2017 and Volta GJA member and the Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to broaden the frontiers of the Association and create opportunities and prosperity for all media practitioners in both Regions.
“Let us remain united in our quest to position our dear Association on a positive path for a greater outcome,” he concluded.
The vetting is on Tuesday, June 3.
Balloting for positions on the ballot paper is on June 9, 2025, while posting official Notice of Polls is from June 11-14, 2025.
The official campaign period runs from June 9-28, 2025
June 18, 2025, is designated for the publication of voting centres, while the election is scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025.
