Accra, June 17, GNA – Minister of Education, Mr Haruna Iddrisu, has urged candidates sitting this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to approach the exams with honesty and integrity.
He warned that malpractice could jeopardise their career aspirations
Mr Iddrisu gave the advice during a visit to examination centres including Garrison Basic School in Burma Camp and St Paul’s Basic School in Labadi.
He encouraged candidates to stay focused and confident, adding, “You are writing the examination in an institution that is noted for discipline. You are expected to comport yourselves for other schools to emulate you.”
He pledged to present the schools’ infrastructure needs to the Presidency for action.
Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah advised candidates to tackle easier questions first, explaining, “Don’t panic; focus on the questions you can answer first… you will be able to answer all the questions in the examinations.”
Ms Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Deputy Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, wished them well and urged them to work independently without flouting examination rules.
A total of 603,328 candidates—306,078 females and 297,250 males—are writing the BECE, which runs from June 11 to June 18, 2025.
