Ho (V/R), June 14, GNA – Mr. Lambert Kofi Atsivor, the current Administrator of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the Volta and Oti Regions, has been elected as the Regional Secretary of the association after going unopposed in the upcoming regional elections.
The announcement was officially made on Friday, June 13, 2025, during the balloting exercise held at the Volta Regional Press Centre in Ho.
The process was supervised by Mr. Benjamin Aklama, the Electoral Officer overseeing the GJA regional elections.
Mr. Atsivor, who has served on the regional secretariat of the GJA over the years, will now transition into the substantive role of Regional Secretary—a position he says he is ready to embrace with renewed commitment.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after the declaration, Mr. Atsivor expressed his appreciation to members of the association for the confidence reposed in him.
“This is not a victory for me alone, but for the entire GJA family in the Volta and Oti Regions. The real work starts now, and I’m calling on all colleagues and stakeholders to come on board as we chart a new course for the development of our Association,” he stated.
He emphasised the need for unity, active participation, and innovation in strengthening the role of the Association as both a professional body and a voice for media practitioners in the region.
Mr. Atsivor added that his tenure would prioritize strengthening the administrative and communication systems within the GJA, supporting journalists’ welfare, and improving coordination among members.
The GJA elections for both national and regional executives are slated for Sunday, June 30, 2025.
Mr. Atsivor’s uncontested election marks the first official outcome in the Volta/Oti Region’s race, setting the tone for a new leadership team.
