Albert Dwumfour wins second bid to lead GJA

Mr. Albert Dwumfour has been re-elected as President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the just ended GJA election.

Mr. Dwumfour polled 445 votes, representing 64.49% of the total valid votes cast to beat his contender, Charles Yao Mawuse, who garnered 245 votes.

The process also saw the election of the Ghana Broadcasting as Corporation’s Rebecca Ekpe, and Dominic Hlordzi, as Vice President, and General Secretary, polling 414 and 443 of the total valid votes cast respectively.

The others are Suleiman Mustapha of the Graphic Communications Group who was elected Organizing Secretary with 365 votes, the Ghana News Agency’s Bertha Badu-Agyei as Treasurer with 401 votes, and Zadok Kwame Gyesi, who garnered 431 votes to win the Public Affairs Officer position.

The newly elected executives will serve a three-year term, focusing on advancing reforms, safeguarding press freedom, and strengthening the professional and ethical foundations of journalism in Ghana
