Seikwa, (Bono), June 19, GNA – The ‘1991 Year’ Group of the Seikwa local Roman Catholic Basic School in the Tain District of the Bono Region has presented 395 pieces of lumber and six packets of roofing sheets to the school.
The building materials were to be used for the renovation of the dilapidated condition of some of the classroom blocks of the school.
Mr Bright Atuahene, the leader of the Group told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after a short presentation ceremony, held at Seikwa that donation was their widow’s mite towards improving physical infrastructure development of the school.
He said the group bought the lumber through individual contributions of the old students, home and abroad, assuring their commitment to support the school to create a more conducive environment for progressive academic work.
Mr Richard Kwadwo Fosu, the Headmaster of the school thanked the group for the gesture and promised to ensure that the lumbers were used for the intended purposes.
He expressed concern about the dilapidated condition of some of the classroom blocks which threatened the lives of the pupils and appealed to NGOs, wealthy individuals, and philanthropic organizations to come to their aid.
Mr Fosu said the school authorities had persistently appealed to the Tain Municipal Assembly to renovate the classroom block, however the situation remained the same.
