Aniehu (W/R), May 14, GNA – Beneficiaries of the Pockets of Promise (POP), an after-school programme for children, have launched the Raincoat Project, an initiative aimed at preparing them for the upcoming rainy season.
The launch, which took place at Aniehu near Apowa in the Ahanta West Municipality, provided free raincoats to about 56 children as means of guarding them against the impacts of the rains.
The Raincoat Project is an extension of the programme’s commitment to supporting the overall well-being and education of its beneficiary children.
The overall goal of the POP initiative was focused on teaching numeracy and literacy skills to children in the deprived communities in the Municipality.
Mr Dominic Coleman, Project Coordinator for POP, said the raincoats was to enable them to commute to and from school safely and comfortably during the rainy season.
He said by providing the children with raincoats, their aim was to promote regular school attendance and reduce the risk of pupils missing classes due to rains.
He said: “This initiative demonstrates our dedication to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for children in deprived communities.”
The excited children expressed their gratitude to the organizers of the programme for the kind gesture.
