Dzodze (V/R), May 21, GNA – Mr. Saviour Mawuena Kofi Ahiati, Zonal Head and Chairman of the Aflao Chapter of the Mobile Money Advocacy Group (MoMAG), has urged all mobile money (MoMo) agents to join the association for their own safety and security.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a stakeholder engagement with MoMo agents in Dzodze, Ketu North Municipality, Mr. Ahiati emphasised that being part of MoMAG equips agents with essential knowledge and tools to prevent robbery and other security threats.
“The group consistently provides members with safety tips and education on best practices for handling their business. In addition to security training, we offer personal benefits such as insurance packages to support members in times of need,” he said.
Mr. Friday Henyo Abednego, the MoMAG’s Volta Regional Representative, also advised agents to close their shops by 1800hours to minimize their exposure to criminal attacks.
Meanwhile, Mr. Edward Ofori Agyemang, National President of MoMAG, stated that the group is currently awaiting an engagement with the Minister for the Interior and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to discuss concrete measures to address the recent surge in attacks and killings of MoMo agents across the country.
The MoMAG continues to advocate for stronger collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders to ensure the safety and welfare of all mobile money agents nationwide.
