Accra, May 15, GNA – The Institute of Public Relations (IPR), Ghana, has inaugurated a student chapter at Central University, Miotso Campus to bridge academic training and professional PR practice.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the Department of Communications and Media Studies, was attended by faculty members, including Dr. Marian Tsegah, Mr. Kofi Akpabli, and Mr. Worlanyo Afenyo, as well as executives and secretariat staff of IPR, Ghana.
A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said Dr. Tsegah praised IPR for its continued commitment to student development and urged students to actively engage with the institute for academic and professional growth.
Ms. Esther A. N. Cobbah, IPR President and CEO of Stratcomm Africa, highlighted the importance of “Relevance and Value” in Public Relations.
“We must define our publics and bring them value. If we fail to do that, our communication loses relevance,” she said.
She also encouraged students to embrace new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence responsibly while staying rooted in Ghanaian values.
Ms. Cobbah swore in the chapter’s newly elected executives, including Alex Adjei Sarpong (President), Sena Afi Senanu (Vice President), and Mary Mensah (General Secretary), among others.
Senior Lecturer Mr. Akpabli expressed optimism about the chapter’s future and charged the new executives to lead with diligence and integrity.
IPR Vice President, Mr. Donald Gwira, reminded students that “relevance is a foundation for recognition,” and encouraged active participation in IPR programmes and adherence to professional ethics.
The statement said the Central University chapter joined a growing network of student-led PR groups across tertiary institutions in Ghana.
