Accra, May 28, GNA – The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Elections Committee has scheduled June 3 – 5, 2025 (Tuesday to Thursday) for the vetting of candidates of the upcoming GJA elections.
In line with the Committee’s commitment to transparency, accessibility, and due diligence, aspirants vying for National Officer positions will undergo in-person vetting at the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra.
A press release issued by the Elections Committee of the GJA, copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, said candidates residing in the regions but contesting for National Officer positions would be exempted from in-person vetting and instead participate in a virtual vetting category.
“Similarly, aspirants contesting for Regional Officer positions will be vetted virtually via a secured online platform,” the statement said.
The publication of the list of eligible voters would be done by Friday, May 30, while the outcome of the vetting, together with the final list of qualified candidates, would be officially announced on Friday, June 6, 2025.
Balloting would be held on Monday, June 9, for positions on the ballot paper, whereas the posting of the notice of poll would be between Wednesday, June 11 to Saturday, June 14.
The campaign period would be between Monday, June 9 and Saturday, June 28; followed by designation and publication of voting centres on Wednesday, June 18, and voting and counting on Monday, June 30, 2025.
“The GJA Elections Committee urges all candidates and members to take note of these key dates and procedures, and to fully comply with the guidelines to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election,” it said.
