Accra, May 26, GNA – The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Monday reminded members, aspiring candidates and stakeholders of the closure of nomination on the midnight of Friday, May 30, for the 2025 National and Regional Executive elections.
âThis is a crucial call to all eligible members who wish to contribute meaningfully to the leadership of the GJA to pick up and submit their nomination forms before the deadline,â a statement issued by the Elections Committee said.
Since the opening of nominations on Friday, May 16, 2025, the committee had received considerable interest from across the country, saying it was encouraged by the enthusiasm shown so far.
It urged all others still preparing their documents to act swiftly to avoid disappointments.
The statement, copied to the Ghana News Agency, was jointly signed by Mr Peter Martey Agbeko, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr Kwaku Owusu-Peprah, Secretary, and Mrs Beatrice Asamani Savage, Member.
The key positions up for election at the National level are President, Vice President, General Secretary, National Organising Secretary, Treasurer, and Public Affairs Officer.
At the regional level are the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer.
âNomination forms are accessible via a secure link upon proof of payment of the applicable fee into the designated GJA bank account: National Investment Bank (NIB) â Osu Branch with Account Name: Ghana Journalists Association and Account Number: 1112037799401â the statement said.
At the national level, the nomination fees were GHâ”5,000 for President and GHâ” 3,000 for all other positions, it said.
The regional level has GHâ”1,500 for the chairperson and GHâ”1,000 for all other positions.
Completed forms were to be submitted with a recent bust-sized photograph with a red background, the statement said.
Vetting would be held from June 3 to 5, 2025, after the nomination and other important steps for national positions (in-person) and regional (virtual).
There would also be publication of qualified candidates and vetting results on June 6, balloting for positions on June 9, campaigning from June 9 – 28, and election on Monday, June 30, 2025.
The Elections Committee, in collaboration with the Electoral Commission, was committed to ensuring a transparent, inclusive, and credible electoral process, it said.
