Christians reminded to safeguard the physical environment

Kumasi, May 27, GNA – The Reverend Samuel Ahima-Yeboah, Asante Presbytery Chairperson of the Presbyterian Church, Ghana (PCG) has urged all church members to be conscious of their actions and their impact to the physical environment.

“How can creatures like you and I destroy other creatures such as trees and water bodies for selfish reasons through our indulgence in activities such as illegal mining? Are you not aware that God will destroy all those who destroy the earth as written in Revelation 11:18,” he questioned.

He made these remarks at the 40th anniversary celebration of the Victory Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Oforikrom, Kumasi.

Rev. Ahima-Yeboah called on congregants to strive to promote the wise-use of the natural resources that the Almighty God has blessed humans with, emphasising the importance of living in harmony with all creatures and keeping peace with all people.

The anniversary was themed “Celebrating Our Heritage at 40, Persisting in Mission with Joy and Hope.”

He reminded Christians of the need to draw closer to the word of God at a time when the world was being confronted with challenges such as wars, abject poverty, famine and starvation, high unemployment rate among the youth, corruption in high places, unprecedented environmental degradation, LGBTQIAA++ among others.

He encouraged Christians to pray against the temptation of complacency in their modest achievements and instead remain open to God’s will, allowing Him to fulfill His good purposes in their lives.

Rev Ahima-Yeboah recommended that members rededicate themselves to win more souls for Christ so that PCG’s Agenda two million and planting of 1,000 churches could become a living reality between now and 2028 – the year that the entire church would be celebrating its bicentennial anniversary.

He took the opportunity to pay glowing tribute to the founding fathers and mothers, as well as the past and present leaders of the Church, for generously dedicating their time, talents, and valuable resources to the advancement of God’s work at the victory congregation, Oforikrom.
