Odomase, (Bono), May 7, GNA – The Local Government Service Association of Physical Planners (LOGSAPP) has congratulated Professor Lord Mensah on his appointment as the Head of the Local Government Service.
Mrs Gifty Nyarko, the National Interim President of the Association described Prof Mensahâs exemplary leadership in academia and public finance as exceptional and commendable.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Odomase in the Sunyani West Municipality, she expressed the associationâs confidence in Prof Mensah, saying his extensive experience and forward-thinking vision would bring strategic direction and advance the service.
âAs a distinguished financial economist, we are hopeful his experiences will well-position him to strengthen the fiscal decentralizationâ, she stated, adding that his expertise in economic planning, fiscal and decentralization policy would bolster public financial managementâ.
That, Mrs Nyarko added, would thereby facilitate a more efficient resource allocation to improve local government structures, particularly in spatial plan preparations which many Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) have shown limited commitment.
âHis understanding in financial systems would further aid the local governments in securing funding and implementation of effective spatial and urban planning initiativesâ, she stated, indicating that âhis leadership will also improve coordination between financial management and physical planning for sustainable and viable developmentâ.
Mrs Nyarko stressed the associationâs full support for Prof Mensah, saying âwe hope that under his guidance, the service will achieve new milestones in promoting growth, innovation and excellence in local governance and spatial planningâ.
