Bolgatanga, April 20, GNA – Reverend Mrs Rosemond Anaba, the Vice President of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries (EAM), has admonished women to acquire the highest level of training to enable them break barriers in male-dominated fields.

She said for women to contribute significantly to nation building and properly complement the efforts of men in society, they needed to adequately train themselves in various professional disciplines.

“Let us train ourselves, so that we can be helpers to the men,” Reverend Mrs Anaba said in a sermon on the fourth day of a weeklong programme dubbed “Bethesda,” held at Desert Pastures, a branch church of Fountain Gate Chapel (FGC) in Bolgatanga.

The annual programme brought together members of the church within and outside Ghana “To experience revival, repentance, release, refreshing, and restoration.”

Reverend Mrs Anaba, who is a Senior Pastor of the church, in the sermon titled: “There was a woman in it,” emphasized the need for women to sharpen their intellectual capacity, saying “Women, we need to up our game. We need to train, read, learn, and sharpen our skills”.

She noted that if women wanted to rub shoulders with men, but not in any form of competition with them, they needed to learn and not regard the kitchen as their place, but equally competent to occupy the corridors of power.

“If we can train ourselves and equip ourselves with marketable skills, it will increase our employability and the capacity to start our own businesses. It will break the barriers in male-dominated fields.

“We must march up with the world, we must find ourselves in the corridors of power,” the EAM Vice President said, and added that God created man and woman not to be in competition, but equal in value and complementary in function.

Referencing Deborah in the Bible, she said “If Deborah could combine being a wife, a judge, and a prophetess, then you can also do all three. The potential in you is so great, you are God’s masterpiece. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.”

Reverend Mrs Anaba, who is also the Director of the Desert Pastures International School in Bolgatanga, said there were several online courses that women could undertake to beef up their intellectual capacity.

She further advised women in the congregation to be sober, live by the teachings of Jesus Christ and encourage older women to teach the younger ones to love their husbands and children, as the home was their priority.

Apart from Reverend Mrs Anaba, other speakers at the programme, include; Reverend Eastwood Anaba, the President of EAM and Founder of the FGC, Reverend Clement Anchebah, Head Pastor, Gate Pastures, FGC, Ofankor, Accra, and Apostle Daniel Asiedu, Chairman of the International Presbytery of the FGC.
