Some NPP grassroots not happy with recent happenings

Takoradi, April 17, GNA -Some members of the grassroots, polling station executives, and dedicated supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Takoradi constituency have express deep concern regarding recent developments within the party.

They are of the view that such happenings threatened “our unity, discipline, and progress ahead of the 2028 elections”.

The Takoradi constituency group concerns inched on a directive by the National Executives instructing all party members, including national executives, appointees, and grassroots members, to refrain from engaging the media on internal party matters.

“Unfortunately, we have observed with grave disappointment that this directive is being blatantly violated. A clear example is Ernest Owusu Bempah, Deputy National Communications Director and a government appointee under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“He has continually made divisive and disrespectful remarks in the media, specifically targeting our 2024 Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia”, Mr. Richard Ababio Bosompim ,leader of the Concerned Grassroots Member and Polling Station Executive Chair of the New Patriotic Party said in a statement to the Ghana News Agency.

He added that, Owusu Bempah continued to walk freely without any form of questioning or sanctioning from the leadership. “This double standard is not only discouraging but has begun to breed suspicion and frustration among the rank and file of the party.”

His conduct, the statement believed risked undermining the unity needed to build toward the 2028 general elections.

The statement said, “It is important to remind leadership that Owusu Bempah’s track record of creating division within political parties is well known, and his continued actions may have long-term consequences for the NPP if not checked.”

The statement therefore called on the National Executives of the NPP, to within 24 hours, issue a formal communique condemning the inappropriate and divisive comments made by Ernest Owusu Bempah, distance itself from his statements and takes immediate

disciplinary action to serve as a deterrent and ensure that no member or appointee engaged in unauthorized campaigns or public endorsements until such time that the party officially gave the green light for campaign activities.
