Accra, April 23, GNA – The Church of Pentecost-Tarkwa Local has set up a GH₵156,771.00 Skills Acquisition Centre at Tarkwa Prisons to aid inmate rehabilitation and reformation.

The facility is equipped with modern tools to provide vocational training in carpentry and electrical work.

It aligns with the Ghana Prisons Service’s mandate to equip prisoners with skills and supports the Church’s ‘Possessing the Nations’ agenda to transform society.

Assistant Director of Prisons, Elder Simon Kwao Abofra, Officer in charge of the Tarkwa Local Prison, said the Church of Pentecost had demonstrated generosity through its support for the facility and assured that the Centre would be effectively used to train inmates and facilitate their reintegration into society.

Apostle Dr. David Nyansah Hayfron, the Area Head, stated that the project was initiated under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Daniel Okyere Walker, who, before his retirement, broke ground for its commencement on June 12, 2024.

He indicated that the project was designed to equip inmates with carpentry and electrical skills to make them employable and self-reliant upon their release, thereby contributing to efforts to reduce recidivism and crime rates in the country.
