Pastor urges youth to avoid sinful pleasures, worldly amusements in festive season

Ayakomaso, (Bono), April 18, GNA – Pastor Robert Lugushie, the Bono Regional Coordinator of the Deeper Life Bible Church on Friday urged the youth to avoid sinful pleasures, worldliness and use the Easter Festivity to reflect on, build and deepen spirituality and relationship with God.

He said Easter was not the period of joy but a solemn reflection on one’s spirituality and the “vicarious murder of Jesus Christ” on the Cross of Calvary that guaranteed holistic salvation and redemption from sin and its consequences.

Pastor Lugushie gave the advice when he addressed the opening session of hundreds of youth at the Easter Retreat of the church underway at the Deeper Life Retreat Grounds at Ayakomaso in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region.

On the theme “Experiencing the power of His resurrection,” the five-day Retreat coincided with the Global Crusade Kumuyi (GCK), a monthly evangelical campaign, an initiative of Pastor Dr William Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM).

Pastor Lugushie noted that “sin is a dictator,” saying it would be impossible for the youth to stop sinning until they recognise their shortfalls, appreciate the vicarious sacrifice of Jesus Christ and accept His (Christ) redemptive work.

That will make the youth pure, perfect, righteous, he stated, saying “Jesus Christ is the only and true mediator between the youth and God”.

The five-day retreat also offers a platform for the youth to listen to live sermons from Dr Kumuyi from Nigeria via satellite.

Other topics to be treated include, “Christ atoning blood,” “salvation over sin,” “No holiness no heaven,” “Finality of Christ’s sacrifices,” “faithfulness to God in all times,” encouragement to Christian perseverance” and “love, obedience and submission in the family”.
