Sekondi (W/R), April 16, GNA – The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly has confirmed Mr Frederick Faidoo as the new Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for the area.
He polled 41 out of the 52 total valid votes cast.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Faidoo expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, for the confidence reposed in him to lead the government’s reset agenda in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
He promised to work assiduously to enhance local economic development as a catalyst for job creation for the teeming youth.
The MCE said, “Among my focal areas will also be to work hard with all stakeholders to boost Internally Generated Funds to capacitate us, as a thriving city authority in prosecuting our development plans and improving on sanitation in our Metropolis.”
Mr Faidoo also promised to forge a strong collaboration between the Assembly and the Judiciary to enforce its by-laws to help guarantee a sane society.
“I am also committed to ensure accountability to the public through tested practices of good governance, which include periodic community engagement and town hall meetings.
To the media, all and sundry, I entreat you to actively get involved in our effort at addressing the challenges that confronts us, as a Metropolis,” he stated.
Mr Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, encouraged the new MCE to work closely with all stakeholders to help bring the development to the people of Sekondi-Takoradi desired.
