Lawra MP reiterates commitment to enhancing educational sector

Lawra, (UW/R), April 16, GNA – Mr Bede Anwataazumo Ziedeng, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Lawra Constituency, has reiterated his commitment to working improve the educational sector in the Constituency within his second term in office.

He recognised education as key to human, community and national development, stressing the need for investment in that sector to develop a formidable and well-empowered cohort of leaders for the future of the country.

Mr Ziedeng, said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Lawra, to assure the people in the Constituency of his resolve to meet their development needs.

He said the people in the constituency gave him their mandate for the second term, following his work and support to the constituency in his first term and assured them that he would not turn his back on them.

The MP indicated that within the next four years, the educational sector would be one of his priority areas and he had earmarked to construct Kindergarten blocks for the Zukperee and Tampie communities in the constituency.

He added that he would also continue to lobby some Non-governmental Organisations that promised to support him in constructing classroom blocks in some schools.

Other interventions in the educational sector, Mr Ziedeng mentioned included support for tertiary students in paying their school fees and sponsoring the municipal-wide mock examinations for BECE students.

He added that he would also continue to provide feeding for the candidates sitting for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and rehabilitate some infrastructure in schools in the constituency.

The MP also assured the people of the Lawra Constituency of making the necessary follow-ups to ensure stalled educational projects were continued and completed.

The projects included the Domwini-Boo (E-block) Senior High School (SHS), the Zambo Girls’ SHS and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) project at Tuma.

“I will go to the TVET secretariat and find out what the challenges are. I will go to the GETfund secretariat to find out about the Domwini-Boo E-block and then see what can be done about it.

All those things are projects, which were initiated some time ago. So, I will pursue them and make sure that we get the benefits by completing them”, Mr Ziedeng indicated.
