Accra, April 21, GNA – Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s quest of winning this year’s league title was dealt a huge blow after suffering a 2-0 defeat against Nations FC.

Goals from Nafiu Sulemana and Emmanuel Annor secured all three points for Nations FC, who moved into the second spot on the league table with 51 points.

It was the second consecutive loss for Kotoko, who now drop to fourth, six points adrift of the leaders, Bibiani Gold Stars, who won their match against Medeama.

Samuel Atta Kumi’s last strike from the penalty spot secured all three points for Miners, who now lead the league with 53 points.

Hearts of Oak continued their inconsistent run with a goalless home draw against relegation-threatened Karela United.

The Phobians were unable to capitalise on home advantage and now sixth with 42 points, while Karela hovers just above the drop zone with 29.

In Kpando, Heart of Lions delivered a dominant performance, edging Accra Lions 3-1. Yaw Danso opened the scoring early before Nana Kwame Oppong struck twice in the second half. David Olubi Akintunde’s goal could only serve as consolation.

In the Bono derby, Berekum Chelsea edged Bechem United 2-1 away to hand the hosts a second consecutive home defeat.

Vincent Klu Adjei opened the scoring for Chelsea, with Dalvin Yeboah equalising before Jonathan Attuquaye’s 38th-minute strike secured the win.
