Fawoman community appeals for public toilets, community centre

Fawoman, (Ashanti), April 30, GNA – Nana Poku Ampofo II, the Chief of Fawoman in the Ahafo-Ano South District of the Ashanti Region has appealed for support towards the construction of a modern community centre and toilet facilities in the area.

He said the chiefs and people of the town had initiated a project which had washrooms and other sanitary facilities, saying on completion the facility would also host funerals, weddings and other social events.

Speaking at a fundraising rally held at Fawoman in aid of the project, Nana Ampofo II appealed to corporate bodies and religious organisations as well as wealthy natives of the area to support the project.

The chief also performed a groundbreaking ceremony for construction work to begin on the project to serve the about 4,500 residents, saying the community also had the plans to construct computer laboratory and water expansion projects.

Nana Ampofo II also appealed for support towards the construction of toilet facilities in the area to improve sanitation and hygiene.

He expressed concern about drug abuse and peddling among some of the youth in the area and admonished those engaging in that unhealthy lifestyle to stop, saying that could ruin their lives.

Nana Adwoa Serwaa I, the Queen- mother of Fawoman said the community still lacked some development projects and appealed to the government to come to their aid.
