Accra, April 18, GNA – The Reverand Father Ransford Titus Glover, Priest Assisting, Holy Trinity Cathedral Church, on Good Friday urged Christians to be inspired by Jesus Christ’s forgiveness of those who crucified him and also forgive one another.
He said Christians must be kind to each other as Jesus Christ did on the cross at Golgotha.
Rev Fr Glover gave the encouragement during the first sermon on the the seven words of Jesus Christ on the cross at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Church in Accra.
Good Friday marks the suffering, crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ to atone for the sins of the world and reconcile believers with God eternally.
The day is observed as part of the Paschal Triduum, which is the final three days of Lent and Holy Week – the Friday preceding Easter Sunday.
Rev Fr Glover explaind that Christ’s prayer on the cross was unique and not a request to God to overlook sins but for genuine forgiveness.
He recounted Jesus’ response to Peter’s question about forgiveness, highlighting the need for unlimited forgiveness.
He quoted Matthew 5:24, which emphasised Christ’s teachings on forgiveness.
The Priest Assisting said Christ’s public ministry began with prayer and concluded with prayer on the cross, making available the mercy of God.
He, therefore, urged Christians to intercede on behalf of others even when it seemed impossible.
Rev Canon Daniel Quaye, the Precentor, encouraged the faithful to face life with confidence as Christ did even when He was in pain.
“Jesus did not change the world through His miracles, rather, he changed the world through suffering,” he added.

The ability of people to care for and help each other despite the individual struggles set them apart, she added.
