Kumasi, April 18, GNA – As part of activities marking the 2025 Ashanti Festival (Ashantifest), telecom service provider MTN Ghana, in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC), has organised a comprehensive health screening and blood donation exercise at the forecourt of the Kumasi Central Prison.

The initiative, which also extended services to inmates within the correctional facility, was in fulfilment with the health component of the two-week celebration spearheaded by Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister.

The event aimed not only to promote general health and wellness, but also to support the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) by mobilising much-needed blood supplies.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, MTN Ghana is partnering with the ARCC to support key events under Ashantifest 2025.

In addition to the health screening and blood donation drive, the telecommunications giant is also sponsoring the Kids Festival and the Music Festival – two flagship events expected to energise the Garden City with vibrant performances.

Prior to the ARCC-led 2025 edition, MTN Ghana had long celebrated Ashantifest in its own unique way through impactful community initiatives.

Held annually in June, MTN Ashantifest forms a vital component of the company’s community engagement strategy, serving as a platform to demonstrate its commitment to enriching the lives of people in the region.

Through a variety of entertainment and sporting activities, MTN continues to connect communities across the Ashanti Region, fostering unity, friendship, and stronger bonds with its customers.

The Regional Minister said Ashantifest 2025 aims to bring together stakeholders from all sectors to showcase the Ashanti Region’s potential and to promote inter-sectoral collaboration to drive economic growth.

He further assured that the government, through the ARCC, is committed to addressing pressing challenges within the prison system, including efforts to decongest the facility and enhance its capacity to fulfill its core mandate effectively.
