Kumasi, April 16, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Center for National Culture has unveiled murals at the paediatric ward of the Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Kumasi to celebrate World Arts Day.
This was to create a friendly and beautiful environment for children as they received medical treatment.
The images included two nurses attending to a sick child, the Little Mermaid, Tweety, the Lion King, SpongeBob, Mickey Mouse and other cartoon characters.
Mrs Grace Agyapong Fosu, the Head of the Visual Arts Department of the CNC, during the event, said the global theme for this year’s Arts Day celebration was, “Do No Algorithm.”
She said the global theme promoted creativity and innovation and discouraged the frequent use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create art.
She said the Graphic Design and Painting Section of the Visual Arts Department of the CNC created murals in the paediatric ward so that the children would have a feel of real painting.

She noted that the hospital authorities were precise about the types of images to be painted on the walls since the ward was for children.
Mrs Rosemond K Owusu-Ansah, the Deputy Director of Nursing Services said the painting would positivity impact the recovery process of the children.
“The painting of two nursing attending to a sick child on the wall will help the children to be at ease when they visit the ward,” she noted.
Mrs Owusu-Ansah thanked the CNC for thinking about the children and putting up such calm and friendly images on the wall to enhance health delivery.
