West Mamprusi NCCE marks 68th Independence Day with quiz competition

Walewale (NE/R), Mar 08, GNA – The West Mamprusi Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organised a quiz competition for four basic schools in the municipality.  

The participating schools were Marakaz E/A JHS, Nazoori (MA “B”) JHS, Suguru R/C JHS, and Ebenezer Presbyterian JHS.  

It was part of a series of activities embarked upon by the NCCE to mark the country’s 68th Independence Day celebration.   

It was on the theme: “Ghana’s Future: Our Collective Responsibility”.  

Mr Imoro Issahaku Thomas, West Mamprusi Municipal Director of NCCE, speaking during the competition at Walewale, said it was to promote the learning of the 1992 Constitution through entertaining models.  

He said it was also to encourage the use of the NCCE’s Constitution game board as well as to encourage the students to join the NCCE Civic Education Clubs.   

Mr Wilberforce Zangina, North East Regional Director of NCCE, said civic education was an important strategy and tool for creating awareness of the main values of democratic governance, instilling the spirit of patriotism and enhancing participation of citizens in governance.   

At the end of the competition, Ebenezer Presbyterian JHS emerged winners with 43 points, followed by Marakaz JHS with 42.5 points, Suguru R/C JHS came third with 42 points and Nazoori (MA “B”) JHS got 36 points.   

Each participating school received a certificate, exercise books and pens as a reward for participating in the competition.
