Sunyani Nyamaa JHS wins NCCE ‘Smart Governors Constitution Game’

Sunyani, Mar. 11, GNA – The Nyamaa Junior High School (JHS) emerged winners of the ‘Smart Governors Constitution Game’ of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) organised for basic schools in the Sunyani Municipality.

The school gained 35 points to beat the St. James JHS which had 30 points in the grand finale of the competition which sought to enlighten the schools on civic education and good governance.

It also aimed at deepening the knowledge of the school children on the 1992 Constitution and further inspired them further to learn the supreme laws of the land.

For their prize, the competitors of the Nyamaa JHS received trophy and gold medals while those of the St James JHS also had the silver medals.

The St Anthony of Padua JHS and the Police Experimental JHS placed the fourth and fifth positions respectively, receiving bronze medals.

Addressing the schools prior to the commencement of the competition in Sunyani, Mr Benjamin Kyere, the Sunyani Municipal Director of the NCCE stressed the need to instil democratic and constitutional values and principles in the youth.

“The competition seeks to ignite the commitment of civic education clubs and their patrons to learn the constitution,” he stated, saying the competition would be held annually.
