Apowa (WR), March 14, GNA – Residents of Apowa, a suburb of Takoradi in the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly, have appealed to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to provide them with alternative water supply.
According to them, for the past three months, residents of Apowa especially, those at the Block Yard areas have been without potable water due to ongoing road construction works on the Takoradi-Agona Nkwanta road.
The construction works have disrupted the water supply lines, leaving residents to rely on untreated water sources.
The situation has raised concerns about the GWCL’s ability to provide reliable and efficient services to its customers.
The residents, who are frustrated and disappointed, have chided the GWCL for not providing them with an alternative means of accessing clean water.
According to them, they were expecting the GWCL to take immediate action to address their concerns and provide them with clean water but that the GWCL has failed to do so.
They called on the GWCL to speed up work to restore the flow of water to their households and demanded that the GWCL provide them with alternative means of accessing clean water, such as water tankers or temporary water supply systems.
Mrs Gifty Danquah, a resident of Block Yard, said “we are shocked and disappointed that the GWCL has not taken any step to provide us with alternative sources of water. We have been without water for three months, and it’s unacceptable”.
She called on the GWCL to support them with a reliable source of clean water.
Mr Doe Kabutey another resident said the road construction works were necessary, but that did not mean that the residents should be left without access to potable water.
He said the residents were paying their water bills, and it was the responsibility of the GWCL to provide them with a reliable source of clean water.
