NIA releases 35,932 Ghana Cards to Volta and Oti Regions

Kadjebi (O/R), March 21, GNA – The National Identification Authority (NIA) has released a total of 35,932 printed Ghana Cards to the Volta and Oti Regions for onward distribution to applicants.

While Volta received 33,707 printed Ghana Cards and 19,500 blank cards, Oti received 2,225 printed Ghana Cards and 5,000 blank cards.

Mr Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, the acting Head of Corporate Affairs of NIA, disclosed during the handing over of the Oti Region Ghana Cards to the Oti Regional Minister, Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong, at Kadjebi in the Oti Region.

Mr. Ampomah stated that while registration for first-time cards at their District Offices is free, the same registration at their Premium Centres cost GH₵310.00.

He also mentioned that the replacement of lost or defaced cards at the District Offices cost GH₵125.00, while at the Premium Centre it is ₵ 420.00.

He added that those who wanted to switch nationalities would pay GH₵365.00 for such a service.

He appealed to the public to report any officer at the District Officers of the NIA who charged unapproved fees to the NIA National Office for action, and that complaints could be lodged via 0302999306.

Mr. Gyapong, commended the NIA for the release of the cards which are long-overdue.

He promised to dispatch it to the various NIA Offices in the region for distribution.
