Drobo, (Bono), March 22, GNA – The Most Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, the President of the Catholic Bishop of the Ghana Catholic Bishop Conference has urged health workers to endeavour to provide exceptional healthcare services in the local communities.
He asked them to always view their uniforms as a symbol of their professions with higher responsibilities, and not just “decorative attire,” urging them to embody the true meaning of their uniforms by providing exceptional healthcare services.
“Just like those of the security services, your uniforms serve as a visual identifier which make it easier for your identification in society,” Mt Rev Gyamfi, also the Bishop of the Sunyani Catholic Diocese stated.
He was addressing the 11th of the St Mary’s Campus of the Holy Family Nursing and Midwifery Training College at Drobo in the Jaman South Municipality of the Bono Region.
A total of 260 fresh students comprising 158 Registered General Nursing and 102 Midwifery were matriculated to pursue various health programmes at the College.
Mt Rev Gyamfi advised health workers to be compassionate, caring, and comforting in the course of their duties, saying that would make them useful in the communities they served, urging them to be always guided by religious values and principles.
He entreated the fresh students to also concentrate on their books and learn hard and abide by the code of conduct of the college.
Miss Monica Nkrumah, the Principal of the College, said discipline remained the hallmark of the college and urged the students to remain dedicated to their academic pursuit, asking them to capitalise on the college’s educational facilities and resources, learn hard to achieve their academic goals.
