Kpando (V/R), Mar. 05, GNA – The Nuarudini English/Arabic School in the Kpando Municipality of the Volta Region, has emerged winners of the 2025 Independence Day inter-schools quiz competition.

Organised by the Kpando Municipal Directorate of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), the competition was to test the knowledge of competitors on the provisions of the 1992 Constitution as well as other national issues including Ghana’s road to Independence.

The Kpando Konda M/A Junior High School (JHS) came second with 34 points, St Michael R.C Boys JHS came third with 29 points and Immaculate Conception R.C Girls JHS with 27 points came fourth.

Mr Richard Asilevi, Kpando Municipal Director, NCCE told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the competition formed part of the Commission’s “Catch them young” policy to instil patriotism in learners.

He said as future leaders, it was important for the learners to be abreast with the provisions of the Constitution.

Mr Asilevi said it was more important because of current happenings nationwide involving the youth which were against the Constitution.

He noted that reading the Constitution and getting abreast with its provisions would limit social vices.

Mr Asilevi called on the learners to champion the agenda of environmental protection where they do away with activities that would destroy the environment.

He said the participation of the competing schools was commendable, adding that a lot of progress was made.

Mr Asilevi said with sponsorships available, the Commission aimed to organise such competitions quarterly.

The competing schools received copies of the 1992 Constitution while the winning school with 44 points automatically qualified as a participating school in the next competition yet-to-be held.
