Heritage Month: Dr Asumadu-Sakyi urges appreciation, consumption of locally made products

Techiman, (Bono East) March 05, GNA – Dr Barimah Asumadu-Sakyi, the Bono East Regional Director of the Center for National Culture (CNC) has called on Ghanaians to appreciate and patronize locally made products. 
 
“Appreciating and patronising made in Ghana goods will enhance the nation’s revenue generation and to the local economy,” he stated in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Techiman to mark the Heritage Month. 
 
Dr Asumadu-Sakyi said locally produced goods also depicted the true identity of the people and helped preserve the Ghanaian heritage and culture underlining the need for the Ghanaians to develop the appetite and patronise locally made products. 
 
“The CNC has therefore started rolling out educational programmes that will help sensitise the masses on the need to cherish and embrace our own products,” he stated. 
 
Dr Asumadu-Sakyi indicated that the nation was well endowed and blessed with natural resources from tourism to rich minerals, indigenous farming culture and hospitality that could be harnessed for development. 
 
“Our local food, theatre, cloth and language are all resources we can tap into to add value and export,” he stated. 
 
In another interview, Mr Roland Adatuu a Teacher at the Techiman Presbyterian School also called on the people to help portray the diverse Ghanaian rich culture and tradition, as the nation marked the Heritage Month.
