Fiapre Professor Kyem Amponsah SHS wins 68th Independence Anniversary Debate

Odomase (Bono), Mar 7, GNA—The Fiapre Professor Kyem Amponsah Senior High School (SHS) in the Sunyani West Municipality has emerged as the winner of the 68th Independence Anniversary celebration debate. 
 
The Sunyani West Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Municipal Directorate of Education organised the debate aimed at promoting critical thinking, public speaking, and intellectual discourse among students. 
 
In all six schools including Fiapre Notre Dame Girls Senior High School (NODASS), Nsoatre Sacred Heart SHS (SAHESS), Odumaseman SHS (ODASS), the Nsoatreman Technical Institute and the Chiraa SHS participated in the debate held at Odomase. 
 
It was on the theme “We are capable of building our own Ghana”. 
 
The NODASS placed second position, ODASS third position, with SAHESS and Chiraa SHS placing fourth and fifth positions, respectively. 
 
Mr Godwin Domayelle, the Sunyani Municipal Coordinating Director commended the contestants for their outstanding performance, saying “the debate shows that the students are capable in research, critical thinking, and effective communication”. 
 
He underlined the need for the nation to always reflect on her achievements and challenges, setting clear goals and objectives for the future, saying national development required collective responsibility. 
 
Mr Domayelle therefore called for attitudinal change among workers to improve job productivity, while protecting state properties.
